Arielle's Birthday Cake
My 11 year old requested the pink basket weave for her birthday cake. She also really wanted it to be 3 tiered but the sizes she'd picked out would have fed 150 people so I had to scale it down. I hate how it turned out but I'm choosing to learn from it instead of being discouraged. I know what the main problems were; there were meringue disks in each tier that I didn't get level. Next time I will pipe them instead of using a spatula. The filling also has sliced strawberries which were not uniform either.
I'm going through the learning process too, but I have to say that I think your cake came out wonderfully. Your daughter is very blessed to have a mom go through such lengths for her. I think you should give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done! :wink:
You did very good. I never thought of having a bottom border different from the basket color, but this looks really good!
