Texas Themed Cake

Texas Themed Cake on Cake Central

This 2 tier cake is french vanilla flavored with simple buttercream, covered in "Satin Ice" fondant. The tops are rounded and the fondant is airbrushed. Gumpaste bluebonnets and yellow roses, various Texas-theme decorations (state flag, oil derrick, Texas Longhorn, cow skull, armadillo. Texas A&M logo). This cake will be my entry in our 2006 County Fair, I'm hoping it will due very well! Last year I took reserve champion, while grand champion went to a fellow CC'er.

I love it! It is so beautiful, and all Texas! Wish I could see the Aggie side! If you don't win we will go investigate the judges!

I did a very detailed, although not stacked, TX cake and that was the only thing I didn't have time to figure out. Beautiful JOB! Just poked around and saw on your page of pics where you got the info on how to do them so thanks for sharing! Again, fantastic work!

Well...it got Grand Champion, but I have been asked not to compete any more, they consider me a professional (since I occasionally sell cakes), and it is against the rules to allow me in the competition!

Good job! Glad to see you took GC, congratulations!! The "new" rules are a pain, aren't they?! (no pros, recipes, and 10"x15" max)
