In community album: Square Wedding Cakes
This is the close-up version.  This cake is iced smooth with buttercream.  Top portion of each layer is iced in plum buttercream and covered with plum cornelli lace.  Each color is separated by a strand of pearls that were provided by the bride's mother.  The bottom portion of each layer was covered with edible glitter, but the room was too dark for the shimmer to stand out.

Plum with Cornelli Lace and Pearls Close

such a stunning cake. The purple is so shimmery - what kind of BC did you use? Or is there glitter on that, too? This cake is so elegant and sophisticated

Thanks! I used half butter/half shortening icing with a touch of corn syrup. That is what is giving it the shine.

From what I remember, I believe I mixed burgundy and violet together to achieve the plum color.
