Traci's Daisy Cake
I made this cake for my husband's niece. She had daisies everywhere at her reception. Cake is covered in white fondant with royal icing "pearls" (I ordered some edible pearls but they didn't come in time, so I had to make do). The daisies are gum paste. The quilting was hard! My husband actually helped me figure out how to do it and we made a few mistakes. The worst of those are hidden at the back of the cake. :)
HollyPJ...if you can do work like I am seeing in your cake pictures, you can make your own pearls. Very easy to do with fondant....go to www.earlenescakes.com and get detailed instructions. You can make them far in advance so you won't need to wait on an order any longer! Beautiful cake!
It turned out beautiful! Love the colors, flowers and quilting. I would love the try the quilting. Did you use an impression mat to do the quilting?

We used a cardboard template as a guide for the quilting and used a pizza cutter with a smooth edge to make the marks! It was improvisation for sure. I'd never heard of impression mats until yesterday

They weren't really pearls--just dots of royal icing made with a decorating tip. The bride wanted pearls, but I couldn't find them around here and the ones I ordered online didn't come in time. Now, of course, my local cake decor store carries them.
Some cakes you hate to cut because they are so pretty. This is one of them. A really exceptional job!
