This is my rendition of Godiva's "Fat Trout" which is her rendition of a Collette Peters cake. It was a ton of fun to do and is a groom's cake for a wedding this weekend. The cake is chocolate with chocolate-raspberry buttercream. I guess it's not too bad for my first carved and sculpted cake.
So nice and plump...love this cake!!! How did you do the lettuce?
That's crazy awesome. I love it!
great job!
Are you kidding? 8O That cake is awesome. Fantastic work.
That is wonderful, I love it
My gosh thats a GREAT looking Fat Fish! ;-D
Very cute. You did a great job.
Fantastic fat fish!!
wonderful colouring and shape..great job!! ;-D
I've done a fish cake too. This one looks great, it looks like a blow fish.
Thanks, all. I really need it to serve a bunch of people, so I decided to leave it more "stylized"...a bit less realistic...and go for more servings!! It's about 20 inches long, 14 inches wide and 4 inches deep at all of the widest parts. How many do you think that will serve?
Love it-too cute!
wow! How did you do that coloring?
lettuce is fondant that I pressed with a real lettuce leaf to imprint then arranged and painted with thinned piping gel

The coloring was done with luster dust mixed with lemon extract. I just kept painting and painting until it finally came together...
