This is another Kahlua cake with coffee buttercream, and decorated with a little chocolate fudge icing. The leaves are fondant because I was too lazy to go out and buy gumpaste. They are painted with several different different mixtures of luster dusts.
Very Impressive beautiful colors too!
Oh this sounds yummy. Do you just add coffee in place of the water to your bc? How do you make you choc fudge icing? The leaves look amazing....just like the whole cake!
You are very kind. I used Kahlua, er...generic "coffee liqueur" instead of water - tends to make it fall though. The fudge icing is Pillsbury out of a can - I cheated. After I cut, painted, and formed the leaves, I finally remembered to add the veins. For the buttercream, I just added 2 tsp. Lorann coffee flavoring instead of vanilla or cream bouquet. It's concentrated and very strong.
The leaves are really, really great!
I love the colors! Where do you find the luster dust? Is it shimmer dust? and how did you get the colors on like that? I just used shimmer dust and it didn't come close to being as iridesent as that!
Thanks! I ordered most of them from Sugarcraft.com and got some at cake decorating stores. It is really called Luster Dust and it's not by Wilton. I mixed several colors, and mixed some together, with a little vodka, so it resembled paint, and painted them on. It turned out a lot better than it usually does - I usually use way too much vodka.
