This cake was one that Nicholas Lodge taught. I loved making this cake. It taught me a lot. Sorry it's not really clear. For some reason it gets blurry when I put on this site.
Absolutely STUNNING!!! LOVE IT!! I would order one from you in a heartbeat..What pan did you use for the purse?...And was it a NIcholas Lodge course you took?...If so where?...Sorry, I just love it...Nicole,[email protected]
It is not that hard really. In fact I think it was one of the more easy things he teaches. If you have the right tools that's more then 1/2 the battle. Give it a try. I'm sure yours will come out just as nice.
I actually bought the stencils from designer's stencils. The problem Im having is they come out blurry. You said you used royal icing? Did you apply it directly on the cake or on the fondant first?
I cut out the fondant then did the stencils. Picked up the fondant up a piece of foam and attached it to the cake. Of course the cake has buttercream on it.

I love it!! It is so beautiful. How did you painted ? Did you use a stencil? Where can I find it.
Thanks. I used royal icing to stencil it. The Stencil can be bought from Nicholas Lodge.
That is gorgeous JoanneK....what did you make the fleur di lie (sp) out of? Great job!
WOW! Even blurry it is still AMAZING! That is just incredible!
LOVE IT!
That cake is gorgeous. It looks like it took a long time. You're very talented!!!
Sundine2 it was a mold that was used and it was a 50/50 mix.

It was a Nicholas Lodge class I took but it was by one of his assistants whom he trained. You use an 8x2 cake to make this then stack it and carve it.
perfect cake!
cute!!!
I just got Nick's video on how to make this cake -- Gosh, you and he make it look sooo easy!! GREAT JOB!!!! :)

It must of been hard not to smear the design when trying to smooth the cake.
Let the royal icing dry before you put it on. Then use the foam to pat it down. Don't rub it. Pat it.
