Dress

Dress on Cake Central

inspiration from wilton 2007 yearbook. White choc mud cake covered in fondx. Bodice and flowers are fondant. Generally easy... little fiddly to attach bodice to dress skirt. Other tricky part was pan shape. In US its called WONDER MOLD and in Australia DOLLY VARDEN... while they are designed for the same purpose the US version is more squat and fat and australian version taller and pointier.. this meant resizing the bodice considerably from the template but overall happy. For my daughters 8th birthday.

beautiful!! What is the hanger? did you make it yourself out of wire or...? You did a great job!! My girls would love this :) I'll have to make one sometime!

Thanks guys... the hanger is royal icing... as per instruction from magazine. Colour was meant to be a strong deep purple but it faded a little and is more bluey/mauve now

Really cute! Here is a silly question, but what did you cover your cake board in? It is so smooth. This is going into my favs.

martig this is a pre purchased cake board... no covering from me. THey are the thick 6mm masonite boards already covered in the special paper.

I let it dry really well and it was then glued to the back of the dress with more royal icing. Its not as thin or as delicate as you may imagine

I love this cake. I wanted to make one, but I have a question... To make the bodice, did you cut out the fondant or did you use a cutter? Also, did you leave a point to "push" it into the bottom cake or did you attach it with royal icing? I love the color.. what color did you use?

so many questions sugachik26... but I will do my best. The bodice was cut using the template in the magazine although we needed to resize it as explained above. No pointy end needed as the instructions suggest glueing the bodice on to lollypop style sticks that push into the cake. Yes we used a lot of royal icing in various forms of glueing it all together... Colour was a combination of a few as it was meant to be a mauve colour and ended up fading

Thanks all. We were lucky enough to have this one published in the Australian Sugarcraft Magazine... very exciting
