My son Mike wanted an Asian dragon on his cake for his 10th birthday. I found the clipart dragon online & a friend gave me the Chinese characters for "happy birthday". I originally tried to do the dragon as a buttercream transfer, but it didn't work (1st time to try one) - so I used the "image" that the transfer left behind on the top of the cake to "freehand" the dragon - thank goodness it worked! I put plastic gold coins around the base for some added "good fortune"!
