This is a 9" and 6" I made for my hubby to take to work for "advertising". Chocolate IMB and choclate leaves accompanied by tiny fonadant pumkins, pears and apples. I got lots of orders in the days to come!

beautiful cake! how did you make the chocolate leaves?

I pick, wash, dry the leaves. Then paint a thick layer of melted choclate bark or candy melts over. Let them dry a few hours and carefully peel off.Make sure to get green leaves, dying ones won't peel off.

I made these chocolate leaves last night using our sugar maple's leaves. Instead of painting, I dipped the face in teh chocolate and it worked well. I was so excited that the leaf pulled away and everything, but... the chocolate leaves picked up the bitter oils from the leaf itself. They taste AWFUL. Is there a way to prevent this? I did a couple on plastic leaves which taste fine, but they don't pull away without breaking - maybe I need to crisco them first.

Hmm- I'm not sure. I always use mple but have used other leaves as well. I have had this problem a couple of times but not always.I think it may have to do with how long the choco sits on the leaf?

I love your leaves!!! How do you paint them on? Mine are so thick and messy on the back. I have thread going in the How To section with a photo of my first try, but not a lot of posts there yet. My maples come out OK but not great and my oaks are a mess... If you could take a look and post any suggestions I'd love it!! Thanks!!! PS I also used silk leave as all our leaves are turning and green ones are hard to come by.
