I did these same cookies with the same dark red frosting. I had to add quite a bit of red paste coloring. It turned the red parts pretty crunchy compared to the white. Did that happen to you? Did you color your white frosting with a lot of red like I did?

Wow these are beautiful! How did you get them so smooth. If I may ask, which kind of icing did you use?
I use a royal icing that comes in a package from CK Products called "Royal & Picture Icing" and follow the instructions for picture or flow icing.
