Faux Birthday Cake

Faux Birthday Cake on Cake Central

This is actually a "fake" cake. It's the pans turned upside down and decorated. I wanted to practice but I was gaining a little weight having to eat what I made so I thought of this instead. The back side is not even fully covered. hee hee (If you browse through the wedding cakes...you will see this cake decorated for a wedding) It's an easy way to build your portfolio...

On this particular cake, I used royal icing and a large round tip for the name...but I have since found that you get smoother results by using gumpaste, rolling into fat round noodles and shaping it into the name. Just let it dry thoroughl! Thanks for your interest!

The flowers are just fondant cut with a wilton flower cutter...I used a rounded stick to shape the petals ad I stuck them on with royal icing....then I used the same royal icing to pipe the designs around the flowers...very simple ...thanks for asking
