JaneK: You know. There are all sorts of advice about upside down methods on this site and others. I have not tried it yet but should. I just frost it the best I can, let it crust, and then take the fondant smoother to the sides and top. Gently patting and pressing it into shape. I then "roll" it sort of around the sides. Not sliding, Just pressing it along the sides while sort of rolling the pressure forward. Eventually, it flattens it all out and creates a nice edge!

great cake!!! the top edge of your cake looks just perfect....I would love to know how to get mine like that...
