Spectacular! What an awesome job! And now that you've mastered turtle heads, you should move on to ET!

I love how you texturized the shell, and the details on the head...Any how to's comming our way?
kimaeck 11/3/04 at 7:30pm
Amazing, look's awesome.

Thanks all! The shell is piped on using a star tip and a spatula-striped bag (black, green, brown). When it set, I gently flattened it with a Viva p.t. The head I scored with a knife and then painted with green and black (watered down) until it looked "real." Funny thing...this cake was a red velvet--too real for my tastes but that's what Mom wanted. Okay Godiva, now you have to share how you did the lettering on your Bible cake  .

Aha! The source of controversy...Well, I went to an art store and had a silk screen done, which is basically a "cloth" stencil, the same kind that is used to print logos on T-Shirts...Thanks so much for sharing your tips ;-) I just realized what it was when I looked at the picture again today...

I love this. I would love to use your idea for a 8 year olds bday if you don't mind. If you can email me any info to help such as size bowl, how the legs are placed. how you supported the head etc. I would be forever grateful. Thanks Debbie brokenarrowmt@msn.com

It's just incredible!! How DID you support the head?
Lisa 4/1/06 at 4:57am
Thanks for the kind comments! The head is made from fondant that has been shaped around a dowel to support it.
