Apple For A Teacher

Apple For A Teacher on Cake Central

This was a fairly easy cake to make. I stacked three 8 inch round cake and carved to create more of an apple shape. I decide to cover this cake with fondant, but you can easily cover in red buttercream. I used a red gel food color mixed with vanilla extract and painted onto the fondant. This is what creates a bright red color. The stem, worm and leaf were all made out of fondant.

Let's see if I had to guess, the ratio would be 2 part vanilla to 1 part red food coloring. But play with it. with certain projects I find that I use the vanilla to wet the brush and just dip into the gel food coloring or vice a versa.
