Autumn Frost

Autumn Frost on Cake Central

I entered this cake into the 2006 SRBA convention, my first ever Buttercream Wedding Cake! It was a 12-9-6 cake iced in a pale pumpkin-shade and decorated in dark chocolate Ornate Scroll . I then accented it with handmade fondant pumpkins with a "frosted" sugar finish, autumn leaves and vine tendrils dusted in gold, copper and bronze gold dust. To my surprise, I won first place. :-)

this is beautiful!!! I need to make a fall birthday cake next week, and this would be perfect! Would you mind if I used your basic design? How did you make the pumpkins?

Thank you everyone... :-) Sarduengo I would be honored for you to use my cake as your inspiration piece. The pumpkins are orange balls of fondant, used toothpicks for creases, painted the creases with gold pearl dust. In a plastic bag, added the dust to the crystal sugar... Wet the pumpkins and shaked them... The stems same concept, then glued it together with royal icing. Please send me a picture of your cake. I would love to see it!

This cake is just beautiful!! I would love to use this for a fall wedding, would that be ok with you? What kind of chocolate icing did you use? I was also wondering about the pumkins, but I see you have answered that for someone else. This cake is one to be proud of, it is beautiful!

Thank you everyone... We use a choc. bc icing.. the bakers make it, we just use it... I can do some investigative work to find out exactly we use.. :-) If anyone replicates the cake... please send me the picture I would love to see how it comes out.
