Gumpaste Shoe Closeup From Shoebox Cake

Gumpaste Shoe Closeup From Shoebox Cake on Cake Central

Gumpaste shoe that went with the shoebox cake. Painted with nu silver luster dust mixed with super pearl luster dust and thinned with Everclear. By mixing those two colors you get a true, shiny silver, almost like chrome.

Love the shoe Shirley! What molds or materials did you use to form the gum past around to get the look of the shoe?

I used Kerry Vincents pattern from her book Romantic Wedding Cakes, you cut the pattern from a soft drink can for the sole, bend it and tape to a cardboard, lay the paste onto the form to dry. The toe, heel and back are cut separately.

Thanks. Yes, it is consider edible but is hard as a rock and just tastes sweet so I always tell people to take it off the cake when cutting servings.
