Portrait Buttercream Transfer
Hi, this was my first time posting a picture and I didn't realize you could add a comment. This was done for my step grandmothers 85th birthday. It's a frozen buttercream transfer. I'm new at cake decorating but really enjoy it. I'm a charcoal portrait artist, so doing a portrait cake was something I was really interested in doing. Nina was a young woman in this portrait, but I don't know how old.
Wow! Tell us about this fine cake!
Wow Wow! Fantastic! 8O
Thanks for your kind comments, Ladies.
What a beautiful image!
I am so impressed! I've been wanting to do a transfer from a photo, but unsure how to go about deciding what details to pick up. Yours is out of this world. Details please.....
Hi cali4dawn. I just flipped and printed out a picture of Nina on regular paper and used a no. 1 tip to outline the details in black. For a face, I think it's important not to close all the lines, like I didn't make a line all the way across the bottom of the eyes. Or the mouth. ANd the nose is suggested by a few lines. And the curls in the hair are suggested by a few curls. It's really not that difficult. Someday, when I'm feeling brave, I think I'll use more color and add simple shading.
Thanks for the tips. I think I may tackle one very soon!
wow just spectacular!!!! I so want to try this...I have chickened out and just done printing on rice paper with a photo.
fantastic cake...how did you do the transfer. I have been wanting to do a motorcycle for my sons 5th
did you have any problems taking the paper off without breaking the picture I really want to try this technique but I'm a little worried about it
