Horses And Fence

Horses And Fence on Cake Central

I made this for a friend's daughter's 5th birthday. 11x15 yellow with choc fudge fillng. Dark choc horses, light choc fence, fondant braided rope bottom border. bc rope top border. This cake was really fun to do. I couldn't get a better pic of the horses, but they I was really happy with them. Need to work on the braiding a little more, but was overall pleased with the effect. Pearl dust on the fondant border and name. Lettering printed in chocolate.

Oops, I just saw your comment now! Sorry so late in reply. I use the Viva method with a crusting buttercream.

Critique Subgroup Member: This cake is adorable! The contrasted writing really works. I agree your fondant rope needs a little work, but, the rest of the cake really ROCKS!!! The hordes are very good, maybe a little more thickness on a couple of them or chocolate clay next time to give them some depth.

Critique Subgroup Member: Very attractive! Clean lines, sharp corners; horses and fence look perfect; piped writing excellent; grass tufts good; braiding could be tighter and board wider. Overall very pleasing.

critique group member: wow! This is a really impressive cake. I agree that the braiding could be a little tighter but, overall a very nice effect. The horses are not too big and it is a wonderful compliment to the pink. your writing is beautiful and the crumbs for the sand is nice and even. This is a wonderful cak! I have never seen anything like it! :D

Critique subgroup member: I really like this cake on the top. Great handwriting and your ponies & corral are fun! And your bits of grass are a perfect touch. I do not care for the different color rope, it doesn't fit at all for me. You know a chocolate rope would have worked better. Also the whole composition on top was really tight!!! ;-D The pink and brown are nice compliments. The board was too small tho, cause falling off the edge is a no-no and yours was pretty darn close to falling.....

Critique group member: Very nice! I love the way you tied in the rose to the rope! The horses are also well done, no critiques here!

critique group member: wow! I have nothing to add- I love this cake! While you might need some braid work, it still looks quite awesome- the colors match wonderfully. I agree that the board might be a tad too small. All in all though- this just rocks

critique subgroup member: i really like this cake! The horses are great, I love how you got movement in the manes & tails. The colors are nice. I like the fondant border, but would have liked to see the two borders match more.
