Another View Of Fondant Ribbons Cake on Cake Central

I never want to do fondant ribbons again. Ever. Was I supposed to let them dry a little first (it's MMF) or was it supposed to be like working with overcooked wet noodles?

They are very very difficult to do especially horizontal like that. If you had let them dry though, how would they have curved around the cake? Best thing to do is to add something to your fondant like CMC or something and I like to roll mine up, take to cake, then roll it back onto the cake. Make sure it's not sticky though! This view is so beautiful and the rose petals really set it off well. Great colours!

I agree with flourgrl...I personally try to stay away from these, but for these, rollouts is the best way to go. LIghtly dust your sufrace with p.sugar and the top of the band and gently roll and lightly cover or wrap with saran wrap until ready to use. For those that require double or triple layer, I personally prefer to assemble then on the table, then roll and apply. That way I make sure they're straight. You'll get better the more your practice. Trust me on that one.
