Hexagon Shape Chocolate Ganache Wedding Cake

Hexagon Shape Chocolate Ganache Wedding Cake on Cake Central

Two tiers, double layer, hexagon shape. Top tier (which was served) was double dark chocolate inside with chocolate mousse filling. Bottom tier was yellow butter cake (flavors requested by the bride) with bavarian cream filling. Each cake had buttercream icing with ganache poured over each. It was decorated with fresh gerber daisies, baby's breath and fern. Below the silver plateau, I decorated it with gerber daises, spider mums, some berry sprigs, baby's breath and fern.

I tinted the buttercream a dark brown like the ganache and put a crumb coat, then one more coat of icing over that... I smoothed that down really well then I poured the ganache over that.. by the time you pour the ganache, it's cooled off to the point you don't have to worry about it melting your buttercream icing... it worked out pretty well for me, even though I was a complete nervous wreck over this cake lol .. I had to transport it over 80 miles to the reception location.
