Texas Cake

Texas Cake on Cake Central

Retirement cake for friend moving back to Texas. It's not a good idea to ice this kind of cake a few hours before transporting it 10 miles in 90+ degree weather. Icing had to be repaired when I got to party :(

:) It still turned out nice! What size pan did you use? I like the Great Star of Texas!

I used a 16" square pan. I went to EnchantedLearning.com and got an outline map of Texas. I copied it on a transparant sheet , then put the trans. sheet on an overhead projector & adjusted the map to fit the 16" pan then made a template out of poster board. When you write out the steps, they sound worse than they really are.

I like how this turned out! I have a Texas-shaped cake pan. I live in Texas, and I guess they sell those down here. You did a great job!
