Diy Man Having A Break!

Diy Man Having A Break! on Cake Central

This cake is for a deaf gentleman....hence the little hearing aid. He is a DIY fanatic and a perfectionist. I don't know if I captured the perfectionist part but I hope he likes his cake. This is a surprise from his wife who ordered a fruit cake so that she can keep it forever (she says!). hahahaha!

....truly speechless....I don't know which I like best. The wee piece of bread or the measuring tape. How you get your edges so straight I'll never know...

Your work really is amazing! Not just the figures themselves but the way they are positioned for the perfect look.

He may be a DIY perfectionist - but you are definitely a Cake figure perfectionist!! :D Great job as usual - always love your cakes and characters.

Thank you! The modelled items, figures included, are made from sugarpaste (fondant) mixed with CMC (tylpur/tylose powder) to strengthen the paste. Gumpaste would work too!

Words do not do this cake justice!! It is wonderful! How did you ever learn how to do the figure so perfectly? Is there a book with instructions? Thank you for posting this wonderful cake. You are a master!

I piped the nails using a small piping tip and royal icing, allowed it to dry then painted with bronze lustre and alcohol mixed....and I held my breathe at the same time!

My first thought after HOW PRECiOUS was "How in the heck did she make those little nails?!" Glad you explained that. ;-) What joy you must give your customers.

I'm running out of things to say about your cakes. They really do just capture life. I wish I could put as much detail in a cake that you do. You are a true artist!
