The Big 50

The Big 50 on Cake Central

Rich chocolate cake with Bavarian creme' filling. First time using chocolate clay and it took some getting used to after using fondant for so long. The '50' is made from MMF and was supposed to be standing up but they were too top heavy to be held up by the small end of stick. I dropped it off at the restaurant and got an email later that they loved it. I wasn't very happy how this turned out but DH reinforced that I'm my worst critic.

Lovely cake....Your being hard on yourself be proud of that talent you have. I was wondering what is this chocolate clay you are talking about?I use fondant but would like to try something new. ;-D ;-D ;-D

The chocolate clay is a mixture of chocolate and corn syrup - the recipe is on CC. You can model with it but it doesn't dry completely hard. It's easy to make but the heat of my hands really impacted it so I had to keep cooling it to make it stiff enough to put it on the cake. HTH
