It is not carved. It is a round cake with some "dummy" pieces (the pieces that are the back of the ship). It also has a paper cup for the thingy hanging off the side. The cake is fondant . The guns and the dish are gumpaste. I used a icing tip to cut the circles out of the cake and replaced them with black circles (also cut out with icing tips). Then painted the lines on the cake with pearl dust and vodka. Kind of dented the cake where the lines go with the paint brush to make it look like the toy did.
