i made a cardboard template, covered in gladwrap, sprinked with cornflour, & cut out in modelling paste & wrapped around each cone template. Takes a day or 2/3 to dry,then carefully lift off cone & set aside to dry some more.

wow! those towers are really amazing - are the columns edible? if so, what are they?
Yes they're edible. they are made from modelling paste (sugarpaste with a gum additive).
