Enchanted Forest Tree Cake!

Enchanted Forest Tree Cake! on Cake Central

This cake was inspired by a Debbie Brown book. I chose to alter it a bit as I needed to make a much bigger cake than what was called for and I had special critter requests. The cake consists of six 6" torted cakes with Raspberry filling and Butter Cream, covered in MMF. All decorations are MMF too!

Thanks for the lovely comment, lilie! After completing the tree trunk details, I put Butter Cream on the board and took Green Fondant and patched around the roots, etc. Then I took a star tip and just made a grass-like pattern. padawn71, it took approx. 9 hours (including baking!). I created the critters while the cakes were baking and cooling.

I used Brown Wilton Icing Colors - Concentrated Paste and just added to the fondant until I got the color I wanted. No secrets - just a lot of elbow work!

This cake is so full of life! It looks like it came right out of the pages of a fairytale book! How much fondant did it take to do all of that?

Kristian, I made two batches of MMF (the recipe from this website). For the figurines, I added some tylose powder to make them dry faster and stay true to shape. Thanks for the lovely comments!!

Wow!!!! Unbelievable! How did you get the trunk to have its 'curvacious' shape instead of coming straight down like a column around all those cakes, I just love it!! You are an inspiration!
