This cake was inspired by a Debbie Brown book. I chose to alter it a bit as I needed to make a much bigger cake than what was called for and I had special critter requests. The cake consists of six 6" torted cakes with Raspberry filling and Butter Cream, covered in MMF. All decorations are MMF too!
wonderful work, I'm sure they were awestruck!
An edible fantasy! Great work !
I'm in awe!! very cool.
this is AMAZING! id love to know your MMF recipe...i have yet to try making it! if you dont mind could you message me the recipe for it, im sick of using ready to roll fondant!
This is great!! I love all the little surprises! I like your base. How did you do it?
Wow....all i can say is....awesome....how long did it take you too make? :D
Thanks for the lovely comment, lilie! After completing the tree trunk details, I put Butter Cream on the board and took Green Fondant and patched around the roots, etc. Then I took a star tip and just made a grass-like pattern. padawn71, it took approx. 9 hours (including baking!). I created the critters while the cakes were baking and cooling.
Unbelievable! The detailed work is amazing! Good job!

Simply amazing! I love it.
I used Brown Wilton Icing Colors - Concentrated Paste and just added to the fondant until I got the color I wanted. No secrets - just a lot of elbow work!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can only hope to be half as good as you one day!
Totally awesome!!!!
Wow (as I sit here with my mouth open) that is truly amazing....you did a magnificant job!!! straight into favorites for sure!!

I just love this cake. The old tree looks so happy and grandfatherly. What a piece of art!!
This is just amazing. It should be a sculpture, and not eaten.
Amazing! You are a true artist!
This cake is so full of life! It looks like it came right out of the pages of a fairytale book! How much fondant did it take to do all of that?
Kristian, I made two batches of MMF (the recipe from this website). For the figurines, I added some tylose powder to make them dry faster and stay true to shape. Thanks for the lovely comments!!
Trully amazing!!!; love your little critters also.
Gooooooood gravy girl!!! That is totally awesome!!! I'm speechless!!!!
Totally OUSTANDING!!
I LOVE IT!!! I WANT IT!!! Can I make a copy? Sincerest form of flattery, you know...
Wow!!!! Unbelievable! How did you get the trunk to have its 'curvacious' shape instead of coming straight down like a column around all those cakes, I just love it!! You are an inspiration!
