In album: quilted
This was my first attempt with a diamond or quilted pattern. I used the plastic impression that is available which made it easy. The bride wanted no more than 2 inches between tiers so I used styrofoam to separate and insert the roses into. Problem was that the stems were pretty flaccid and it took a while to insert them!

This is so well executed. I tried the impression mat and just couldn't make it work - but you inspire me to try again. This is so lovely!

Pat yourself on the back!

Thanks for all your comments!! I used buttercream icing and allowed it to air crisp before using the impression. Also dusted the impression with cornstarch/confectioner sugar mix. I used a sharpened dowel rod to make holes for the roses first due to the flaccid stems!

Beautiful job!!! What was the cake made out of??
Darstus 7/5/05 at 9:02pm
Tazalexis: not sure what you mean regarding what the cake was made of. The cake is covered with buttercream. Is that what you meant?
curiegas 7/5/05 at 10:32pm
Beautiful Cake. What are the "dots" made of? I can't believe it's iced in buttercream, you do an excellent job with smoothing your cake.
Darstus 7/6/05 at 10:50am
Curiegas: the dots are buttercream also. And I sure love VIVA paper towels!!!!
