Pink Birthday Cake
My dh designed this cake. It's a chocolate cinnamon banana cake w/ carmel frosting (from the cake doctor). I am so irritated w/ this cake my past 2 cakes I've had the HARDEST time smoothing out my bc and I crumb coast then do a layer but STILL cake shows through. Does anyone know what's going on? The icing's consistancy is right and it's not to humid or anything...
Thanks - I'm not sure either I waited 20 minutes for the crumb coat to set, then I put the bc on. In fact towards the end I was begining to think I had TOO much icing on b/c it was just moving around. IT was very frustrating.
very cute cake.....sounds like the icing is too thin...but you said it was right....so I have no idea...I just know some days i can smooth better than others (but I always assume mine is consistancy related)
It look perfect!! It is ery nice of your DH to help you with the designs, I'm not a BC lover, but what I usually do is crumb coat first and let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes and then apply the last coat, maybe you are not usimg enough bc, be generous and you'll be amaze of the results!
