My first real whimsy cake (i experimented with dummies before). i dont have any orders at the moment so i thought i would take the plunge and have a go at carving a whimsey cake. Now i have no idea what to do with it......lol. Anyone need a cake!

Super job . You could eat it or give it to the fire department.. Our firefighters are always happy to get my mistakes or pactice cakes.

this is SO pretty! i've seen your dummies...and think you did an amazing job at getting smooth angles on the real thing. woohoo! excellent colors, design, and such nice big ribbon roses!

OMG Kylie...that is so wonderful!!!! I don't know how I missed this...any troubles with excess fondant at the bottom of each tier? Yours looks perfect and I would LOVE to try!!! Congrats to you on this beautiful cake!!!!! ;-D

thanks guys.... the sizes i used were 7" on top and 9" for the bottom, i use 3" high pans and double layers of cake. HTH....Jane, surprisingly i didnt have much trouble with pleating at the bottom on this one, but the dummies i have covered always give me grief....cheers kylie

thanks again for the great comments guys.... i am not real sure how much fondant i used i kinda just wing it, if i had to guess (sorry its in kilos) i would say allow 2 kilos for the bottom and maybe 1 to 1.5 for the top....cheers kylie

Flawless cake! I hope my first looks even remotely like yours!!! Do you remember how much fondant you used to cover your cake? In ounces/lbs etc?

Your cakes are amazing! I would love to try a whimsical cake, not sure if I have the confidence. Can you please email me some tips or instruction on how you construct such a beautiful cake.
