Anniversary Cake

Anniversary Cake on Cake Central

Okay - my first time doing a 3 tier cake - for my parents 30th anniversary party this weekend. The tiering wasn't too difficult, but I'm not happy with the rest. The colors were supposed to match their wedding colors - Ivory buttercream for my mothers dress, yellow, peach and blue for the bridesmaids dresses. The ivory, I think, looks horrible - it was hot here today and the frosting wouldn't cooperate with me and is not smooth ..... the list goes on. The one bonus? It's still edible! Comments welcome!

Don't be so critical. Your roses came out wonderfully and your parents will love that it came from you.

Very, very nice! It's so frustrating when the weather won't cooperate! I think you still did a fantastic job! I love the colors and placement of your roses! Did you try sticking the cake in the fridge here and there? That would probably help with decorating the base layer of frosting (over the crumb coat)?

thank you sugar plum fairy! I tried everything I knew with this cake - yes I did refrigerate it and it only moderately helped. Looking back, I should've done the cake in all white with accent colors - maybe that would've looked more edible! Thanks for your kind words!
