Elmo

Elmo on Cake Central

My first and last attempt at buttercream decorating! It is too random for this personality. Elmo turned out cute in the end, but I much prefer working with fondant! I guess you just don't know until you try it!!!

A CORRECTION: My mistake on who gave me the directions....marecip has been a huge help and her monkey cake "connected" us, but MSAUER is the Elmo "lifesaver" when it came to her directions. I have e-mailed her to get her o.k. to put an attachment on this page.....stay tuned!

Now a thanks to all of you and to answer your posted questions....aside from the "soon to come" directions,...the had is cake. The eyes and nose are styrofoam, shaped and covered. The total number of cake boxes were 4. I think that puts the serving to about 40. If anyone has a better calculation, I would love to know. I make my bases out of glued together cardboard and cover them with royal icing (got that from "Cakes to Dream On, Cotette Peters) Hope this helps a bit. :P

Your Elmo turned out great. I am so glad that you could benefit from my directions. Maybe we should post it as a tutorial here on the site (???). I love the pink base cake...totally makes it "girly". The hat is a very nice addition as well.
