This design hasn't made it to the top of the cake yet but it will! There are other little bits and peices to see on this design but I thought I would share the close up for now. You can see more of it on Flckr which can be accessed from my extra icing blog if you like! :o)
I absolutely love you cakes! I have a question for you. How do you store your figures until you are ready to use them on a cake. I want to make a figure to use on a cake in a couple weeks but i don't know how to store it until then.
Questions answered:- no I don't dry each part separately. The paste has to be pliable in order to shape and form and glue into the position I want it. The paste begins to dry quickly so time is precious doing these. I store these toppers on a shelf under a work top out of sight and harm until ready to place onto the cake. I have a studio that allows me to do this, keeping family well out of the way!
I thought I had already commented on this, but I must not have. Amazing as always. I recognize your work as soon as I see it. I love how you do the mouths. It must be so tedious to get those tiny teeth in there!
