Camping Cake

Camping Cake on Cake Central

This is for 2 twin brothers who adore fishing and camping. I used broken pieces of Cadbury Flake chocolate bar for the fire's "logs", jelly beans for the campfire "rocks", raw brown sugar for the campfire "sand" and plastic fish/trees/pop cans. The "tent" cake is about 7" tall and 12" long in fondant.

I used 2 sheet pans and cut out rectangles that were 12" long...in 9", 7", 5", 3" strips. I stacked them all with a very thin filling of buttercream, then froze it and carved it into this rounded shape. I used a thin layer of pale fondant all over the cake, then dampened the sides with a bit of warm water and stuck on the darker blue fondant. It came together pretty quickly...about 2 hours in all.
