This cake is so adorable. I have a birthday cake coming up soon and this is a fabulous idea. Can you share how the candles were done?

Thank you all for your nice words. I just painted the candles and all free hand with edible petal dust and a paint brush.

What a great idea, thanks for sharing. Did you use a marker or cake colors and a brush? Did the colors run?
    angies 6/27/07 at 5:36am
I used petal dust mixed with grain alcohol. Painted it with a paint brush. The colors don't run. Thank you.

Thanks, so the candle colors come from pedal dust in combination with grain alcohol? I am sorry I don't follow, I must be tired today. Thanks for your help

Petal and luster dusts come in a little container. They are a powder. You add a little grain alcohol or vodka or pure lemon extract to make it into a paint. Then use a paint brush and paint it on the cake. If you do a web search on petal or luster dusts, it will take u to sights so you can see exactly what it is. If you still have trouble, get back with me or email me and I will try to help futher.
