I made this cake today for my neighbor who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She is young, a mother of three and one of the nicest people I know. The cake is inspired by Peggy Porshen's beautiful rose cake. Mine is all buttercream and chocolate cake underneath. The hearts are fondant.
So nice of you - and what a beautiful cake - I'm sure it was well received.
Your roses are beautiful. I love the purples. What colors did you use?
Very Very Very beautiful. And the sentiment makes it more beautiful. I love the cake stand, too.
This is so beautiful ... especially considering the circumstances ... I would have never put the two together ... but now - such a beautiful way to let someone know you are thinking of them!
beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!very nice gesture!
I actually used burgundy wilton coloring and varied the colors. Thank you for the nice comments!!
Beautiful! How did you keep the roses from falling off the cake? Again- very beautiful and hopefully the recipient is going to be okay.
jewels625- I made the roses a day ahead of time and let them dry. I then used fresh buttercream to "glue" them on the cake. They kind of rested on themselves. I did loose a couple in the process! I used small skewers for the hearts and stuck them into the cake.
