Roadkill Cake

Roadkill Cake on Cake Central

A customer requested that I make a cake that looked like roadkill for a party that she hostesses with her husband every year. They call it a roadkill bash, and everyone is supposed to bring food that looks disgusting but tastes good. That's my sense of humor!! The tire tracks are not as good as I would have liked, but after doing all that fur, my hands were going numb. She LOVED the result!

That is so funny in a gross kind of way. I love that you even have fur splatters - again gross, but funny.

hehehehehe... I'm glad someone noticed the fur splatters! That may have been my favorite part!

AAAHahahaha! I was looking at the small pic and said...what the...? Looks like a squished cat!!! Who knew!?! Great job!!! And the scattered fur just really does it!!!

I used the grass tip (round with all the little holes, I think it's #233, but that might not be right.) I just did 'pull-out' fur starting around the bottom edges and working toward the top of the poor beast. Then I used a short glass to smash down the middle section and freehanded the (crappy) tire marks. I would love to do something like this again but do the tire marks MUCH better! It was fun to do though!

My son saw this cake and just loved it - wants me to do one for a boy scout cake auction. I hope that would be okay with you.

Of course it would!! Have fun and let me know how it goes over with a group of 'gross' minded boys! Haha!

SOOO FUNNY! what tip do you use for the fur? what i saw you used the grass tip. when i use it, it comes out like spagetti! Am i using it wrong?

Edel, you just have to press it to the cake to get it to stick, then pull it out as far as you want it to go, then stop squeezing and pull away! Hope that helps.
