Class Iii Disaster!

Class Iii Disaster! on Cake Central

I hate this cake! My KitchenAid stopped working and the replacement hadn't come in, so I burnt up two hand-held mixers (borrowed!) in an attempt to make the icing! I used canned icing to mix with some purple buttercream that I had left over - not the color I wanted and wouldn't crust well! Flowers were from class - all I had since I couldn't make royal icing. Roses were left over from my SIL's wedding cake. Also, this was the first time I used filling in my cakes. As you can see, I used too much!

Good job, I did not notice the bulges until I read the description. I like how you did the flowers on the side of the cake very nice.

You're too hard on yourself! The cake is very nice - you did wonders with all the mishaps that took place trying to do this one. I think we all learn something from each cake we do - it's different, and you sould be proud of it!

I can understand your frustration. However, you managed to pull yourself together and finish it. Not only that, but the overall design and colors are nice, and it DOES LOOK NICE! There is only a slight bulge on the sides...Not that bad fytar. Pat yourself on the back! :D

yeah, the bulge was noticed immediately by my dear sweet husband...he said, "hey, that's the first time I've noticed where the layers come together!" I'm like, thanks, hon! Thanks so much for the compliment. I still hate purple and pink together, though!!

I think your disaster turned out pretty well. I know what you mean though about the bulge. I did my first wedding cake in April for my son and I had a few problems with the bulge as well. No one said anything if they noticed and my son and daughter-in-law just loved the cake. Your borders and roses are great!
