Tennesse Church
This cake was designed for a man turning 99. He attended the church as a young man and drove a Model T car at the time. The car is made of gumpaste, the trees in the background are made with pastillage and rice paper leaves. He is now 100 and still going strong. Note: As of October 20, 2006, he will be 101.

Gumpaste is a more pliable sugar dough used for flowers and delicate work. Pastillage is just powedered sugar, Tylose, and water. It has no stretch and dries VERY quickly. It is strong and is used for making plates, bowls, branches, etc. Once dry, if it breaks, it sounds just like a china plate breaking!
