I'm working on making a Welcome Home cake for my brother-in-law whose in the army and is coming home from Germany (he's been stationed over there for about 1 1/2 years) and want to try making this cake. What did you use for the red and blue stripes? Is it paste or gel or what? Thanks!

they are made from gumpaste. u just roll out a strip for however long and wide u want then trim it up even and paint it with petal dust. the red and blue stripe on the cake i painted on free hand with same petal dust. I am glad your brother-in-law is coming home and tell him THANK YOU from my family.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I am in love with the colors and design. I'm not all that familiar with the different techniques, but is gumpaste edible andwhen you said you painted free hand with petal dust, is that edible too?

Gumpaste is edible and is like a dough that you can roll out and cut. The petal dust is edible also. I am glad u like it.

Believe it or not it was an anniversary cake for a couple who own a very large business. They have 3 separate summer picnics all with one theme which happened to be America. This was their surprise cake. Thank you,

This is beyond impressive - both in terms of design and execution and I can only imagine how much work and time this took. What is the eagle? Gumpaste?
