Ribbons And Roses
Did this cake for a bride who was refered to me over The Knot. Gotta love the Internet! She had seen a similar cake that she wanted me to copy. I was pretty pleased with how close it came for the frosting. The roses were all hand made with small gumpaste pearls added in. The back had a line of hand-made gumpaste pearls running from the top to the bottom.

Thank you - I did the ribbon effect around the cake by using the flat side of a large basketweave tip. I put marks around the cake to keep the lines level then overlapped them slightly to give the shingle type effect.

I would, but unfortunately with the mirror there, I couldn't get around behind it to take the picture! the only way I got a shot of the back side was with the reflection.
