i used the wilton gumpaste flower kit to make these. it comes with all the cutters and a full color step by step book. the one thing i did differently is i hung the flower upside down to let them dry. when i put them in the foam my petals tended to fall down so i curled the wire into a hook and hung it upside down. i'd pick it up every once in awhile to readjust the petal and then rehung it. thanks for everyone's comments. i just love this site! it inspires me everyday!
another thing i suggest is getting a set of non toxic artist pastel chalk. you can buy a large set with a whole bunch of colors for about 6 dollars. these cost way less than the petal dust and you get the same effect.
These are great - dumb ? when I make mine (not successfully) I get like a huge ball at the but end - is that supposed to happen. I would love to see the bottom of the flower to see what I am doing wrong
thanks everyone for all your wonderful comments. it really does mean alot to me. i was a little leary of trying my hand at the gumpaste flowers. i tend to look at ALOT of pictures here before i try to make my own flowers. i just hope the other flowers i try will come out this good. thanks again for everyone's feedback. it really does make a difference when people appreciate what you do.
