Captain Jack Sparrow

Captain Jack Sparrow on Cake Central

I took the 3D Spiderman to a whole new dimension. This was my first attempt at a 3D pirate. I must admitt, I had no idea that the licorice dreadlocks would look as good as they did. The styrophoam head is covered with fondant, all the facial features are completely edible, and the facial hair / chest hair was made with tinted coconut shreds. This cake was fun to make and was a major learning experience for me!

I wanted to do this for my son but he wanted something else. It's so cool to actually see it done--it's pretty much what I had imagined but I bet yours is a lot better than what mine would have come out looking like. You did a GREAT job. Using licorice for hair was a good idea!
