In community album: 2006 Wedding Cake Contest
The original of this cake is a fondant masterpiece by Carolyn Wanke.  I wanted to try it in buttercream/royal--it would be much easier in fondant/gumpaste using molds!  I muted the colors for a "dusty" palette and I designed the scrollwork and topper. The tussie-mussie cones are royal icing piped in basketweave.  Thanks for looking!

    Beautiful cake. The roses are perfectly formed and I love that they are slightly muted. It makes it even more "Victorian.

    easier in fondant, maybe, but it is sure nice to see buttercream sometimes and you did a great job! Beautiful! Garden colors from Wilton:? Very pretty!
