Mickey Mouse Cake.

Mickey Mouse Cake. on Cake Central

This is an absolutely enormous cake, too bad I cannot have people next to it to show the scale. The bottom tier is a 14" round, Mickey's body is Wondermold + 9" round. Head is melted candy melts poured in the Mickey cake pan. Hands are cookies. Got the idea from Wilton's '06 yearbook but had to come up with my own construction as I did not have access to the materials needed.

Great job! I've made this cake too and you truly cannot appreciate the size unless someone is next to it as you said! Could you believe how freak'n heavy the head was! How did you keep your cookie hands from spinning around? I had to make mine from paper! It's in my photos!

Thank you all for your very nice comments. I have PM'd the details regarding the head, if anyone else needs them just send me a PM. Cambo, I did see your cake in the galleries, it is great! I attached the hands /arms after arriving at the party, don't think it would have made it otherwise. If I get bored I may sit down and calculate how heavy it was, the head and fondant alone is over 10lb!

OMG, I just made this cake last week and it was first "paid" disaster. After I made the head and realized how heavy it was, I couldn't imagine how it be supported, so I decided to make it out of rice krispy treats....and they melted!!! It was horrible. I had to refund the $$$. So...how did you support the head????!!!! :o

Berl, I "glued" the head on to a thick dowel with candy melts, and then the dowel went through the entire cake. I did not think it would work either because the head is so heavy, but amazingly it does work.

I just can't believe it could be supported. I didn't even want to try and risk ruining the entire cake by having it come crashing down on it. I'm glad it worked for you. You are WAY more brave than I. I just threw the head out cause I didn't want to be reminded of it! lololol Thx for the info. :-D
