Bamboo Tropical Wedding Cake

Bamboo Tropical Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This was my first wedding cake. It had a strange icing combo on it, the bride wanted 1/2 "butter" buttercream and 1/2 chocolate buttercream. Not my favorite flavor, but that was her favorite and she wanted a light cocoa color. I was okay with it, but as you can see it looks like it's leaning. When I go to stack cakes, I always get them off center! Could anyone give me some pointers on how to correct this? Any other thoughts would be great! I love this site, it's really made me want to try harder!

this is nice. Just make sure to stand over each layer when you mark it because if you don't, they will almost always be off center.

I take my pans with me and make a light impression on the cake you're stacking the next tier up on. Ex: bottom tier is 12", 2nd tier is 10", then you'd make a slight impression with your 10" pan on top of the 12" bottom tier... I lightly set my pan, and you can either measure or eye around the cake to make sure it's even, then gently press.. .then I tier up using that as my guide... I like your cake!! It's unusual and I love doing those kind!!
