Fondant Draped Round Wedding Cake

Fondant Draped Round Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This is a pound cake with strawberry filling and Choco-pan wedding white fondant--although it looked more like ivory to me. The drape was made to match the bride's dress--every other fold was brushed with luster dust. I actually attended this wedding and ended up cutting the cake. It was very enlightening seeing the innards--made me realize just how important dowels really are. I definitely need to dowel more!!

Thank you! For the drapes: I rolled out 6 inch wide triangles, about 13 inches long. I cut the rectangle into six 1-inch strips. I brushed water on the top third-ish of the strip closest to me. Then I took the next strip and laid it on the wetted part of the first strip and pressed down gently. After that I brushed water on the top third-ish of the 2nd strip and laid the 3rd strip on the wetted part of the 2nd strip, pressing gently. Etc., etc.. It was the best way to mimic the bride's dress.
