Cupcake Cake

Cupcake Cake on Cake Central

For my Niece's sweet sixteen party. Cake was 24 inches tall and weighed 18 pounds. All done in Choco-Pan. Stressful but fun!

Thanks for your comments. Kinda new to Cake Central so I'm not sure if I'm responding the correct way. My apologies if I'm supposed to respond individually. I found Cake Central when I knew I was going to make the cake but needed some ideas. Lemondrop suggested i look at a cupcake cake made by a member here (can't recall his name). Got some good ideas from that. Sides were done by using a plastic cake support dowel and fingers to crimp.

this is huge and awesome!! and perfect for a party that doesn't really have a theme! great idea! btw....are the 'sprinkles' fondant? or where did u get such big sprinkles?

Thanks. Sprinkles were actually piped with a #3 (I think) tip. Being the novice that I am, you'll notice the yellow sprinkles are only on the bottom - those were made from fondant but wouldn't stick to the top.

SOOO cute, and that is one big cake! I so want an opportunity to make one of thse. Your towel for the "wrapper" worked out perfect. Great job!

what size layers didyou use for the cake and how did you make the dome, also how do you make the top look like swirls? please help. I need to finish this cake today for my baby's birthday tomorrow/. How many people does this one feed?

Used a combinatiopn of 8, 10 & 12 inch cake pans for the bottom and 10, 8 & 6 inch for the top. Stacked them together with icing and carved the top shape with a knife. Top is done with fondant over a heavy layer of buttercream - I then just used my hands to shape the "swirls" by pressing the fondant into the layer of buttercream underneath. Hope that helps! Email me if you need clarification.
