Where's My Brother?

Where's My Brother? on Cake Central

Just an up close look at a character on one of my cakes. Her brother is around somewhere....I really liked this little duo.

WOW... this is great, do you give lessons or you can recommend someone who does(i live in Nigeria) i will love to learn something half as good as this.

I don't give lessons but would like to in the near future. I do get asked a lot but I have other commitments apart from cake making and decorating. I taught myself the basics from books and incorporated my own style over time aiming to be recognised at a glance. Keep at it until you find a style that works for you.

I use Regalice Professional Sugarpaste made by Renshaw Scott. I add a gum powder to it to which firms the paste and makes it more pliable and easy to use. It also makes your characters stronger so they keep their shape.

Which proportion of CMC do you add to the sugarpaste? Your work is amazing!! I have been looking all your cakes and I am not able to find a favorite... I love them all! Congratulations :)

Just practice. I love animation and caricatures and get a lot of inspiration from that kind of thing. Childrens books are good for new expressions. Features can be accentuated in any manner you like. I just "play" and see what I end up with. I create the hair using a sugar gun. I place the strands onto the head and cut the hairstyle strand by strand and pull it gently to style. I love being a hairdresser!
