Maggie's Doll Cake

Maggie's Doll Cake on Cake Central

this was my first doll cake. I used a pyrex bowl and 2 8" rounds. I wrapped the legs instead of using a doll pick so she could have her to play with. I had no idea what to charge for her. The back of her dress is ruffles and cornelli lace in front. Of course she got the edible glitter. Please feel free to critique and post suggestions for next time.

she's beautiful, think i'll be making one for my daughter. charging depends on your market-alot. i'm in the midwest and i would charge at least 35.oo for her, plus the cost of the doll. that's a lot of cake, the 2 8" plus the pyrex bowl. my target here sells their "doll" cakes for 30.00 and i don't know if it's a real doll or just a pick.

thanks. That's helpful. I know I never charge quite enough, but my customers are all word of mouth as I can't advertise and I always feel "guilty" charging for my work. But I do get a lot repeat customers so again I always no matter what I do basically charge them for what they would have spent if they went to a grocery store although you can't get this type of stuff there.

I think $30 for this is a great bargin. I live in NW Arkansas and a local bakery charges $80 for doll cakes. And they use real Barbies. I think yours looks way better than the ones they make. PS they sell alot of doll cakes!!!!

Oh, thanks so much for the compliment! $80.00 is a lot of money, but you do cakes and we do deserve more but I have that "is my work really worth that much" syndrome.lol
